Gynecology

The Department of Gynecology at Doverie Hospital performs all kinds of gynecological operations for the removal of pathological alterations in female genitalia: diagnostic and therapeutic curettage, removal of myomatose nodules, uterus and ovary cysts, corrections of urinary bladder and uterus descensus and operations of extrauterine pregnancy.
All of the above mentioned operations are performed under general anesthesia.
The department has specialized itself in minimally invasive surgeries – laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Both methods fall into the group of the so-called ‘bloodless’ operations and provide for the patient’s convenience in the postoperative period.
Laparoscopy is used for all kinds of surgical interventions in gynecology that are also performed using the classical methods of incising the abdominal wall – operations of ovary cysts, removal of adhesions of the Fallopian tubes and the ovaries that prevent fertility, removal of myomatose nodules, and in necessary, removal of the uterus itself. This method is used also for the correction of ‘descensus’ of the anterior vaginal wall, urinary bladder and the uterus. Only the malignant disease is a relative contraindication for the use of this method.
Hysteroscopy is used for inspection of the uterine cavity an for the removal of various pathological alterations such as polyps, myomatose nodules and foreign bodies.
Both methods also enjoy a very fast recovery period – practically the same day with the hysteroscopy, and a day after the intervention – with the laparoscopy.
In view of the patient’s convenience and faster recovery in the post-operative period the experienced gynecological team at Doverie Hospital uses abdominal pressure, whose values are lower than standard procedures.
